20MW High Voltage Electrode Steam boiler to Boliden Odda AS
Boliden Odda AS is Norways one and only zinc smelting plant. With approximate 300 employees they have capacity to produce 200.000 tonns of zinc each year with a turnover of more than 1.500 MNOK.
One of Boliden's production facilities is located in beautiful surroundings in Odda.
PARAT Halvorsen AS shall deliver a 20MW High Voltage Electrode boiler for steam for 12kV voltage. Design pressure: 15 barg. Design temperature: 202°C. Operating pressure: 12 barg.
Included in the scope of supply is also a 20m3 pressure degassing tank, a complete water treatment system, circulation circuit complete with circulation pump and pipes including the installation on site. PARAT service team is also going to build the steam piping and connect to the already existing system.

Other products for sale is sulfur acid and cadmium. Residuals is being deposited inside the mountain hall.
Boliden Odda has a demand for steam for heating of the process fluid (neutral lye and cleaning). Steam runs via heating panels in the process tanks and transfers heat to the process fluid. Under normal operating conditions the steam is being produced during a exotermic reaction at one of the production locations (Røst). During maintenance periods at this location, or if the demand for steam is higher than the amount produced, it will be necessary to run the steam boiler to retain the production at the other locations.
In short, the boiler shall be used to produce steam for heating of process fluids at Boliden Odda.
No steam -> no production.
