A few days ago, Managing Director Michael Vejlgaard, as:scan Industries in Hvide Sande, put his signature on the delivery of another boiler for use in the district heating sector. It is Gram District Heating Amba, who have chosen to be at the front in the use of surplus energy from wind turbines , and especially to be able to participate very actively regulation marked of the grid, as the entire boiler capacity can be used for frequency control . The boiler is specifically designed to operate at an extremely low idle load, making it highly competitive for just frequency regulation. The boiler delivered to Gram District Heating Amba is a medium-sized boiler of 10 MW connected 15KV network.

For SCAN this is another Turnkey delivery including the entire high voltage section , low voltage , automation, boiler and pipework . Ramboll, who was in charge of the tender, had performed a ratings system where suppliers were measured on price, technical solution and service organization. The scale went to 10 and SCAN scoring 9.9, 10 & 10 which we are very pleased, as it is precisely those areas SCAN we have emphasized to optimizes the past two years.

Parat’s IEH Electrode Boiler has been designed and developed by the PARAT Halvorsen’s in-house engineers and manufactured in its workshop in Norway for more than 20 years to a compact design of up to 50MW in one unit. It allows users to switch from cold to full load in less than 15 minutes, with 30 seconds from minimum to full load. Minimum load is below 2%. Significantly, there is no current to earth, no electrode wear and the boiler requires only minimum maintenance.

Power from wind and solar energy can be utilised in the boiler for steam or hot water purposes. Hot water can be stored during peak production periods, and utilised when needed in district heating.

Parat’s remote monitoring system enables web-based remote monitoring of the boiler plant from anywhere in the world. This also includes online troubleshooting and upgrades of the control software from the Parat Halvorsen AS service centre in Norway.

Another significant feature is that the electrode boiler system can be delivered in a complete turnkey boiler house.

'We made a major breakthrough after participating for the first time at Hannover Messe as an exhibitor last year,' says Parat Halvorsen Sales Director Martin Løvland. 'It was a particularly busy exhibition, the world’s leading event for industrial technology, and it gave us the opportunity to demonstrate how our system generates heat from renewable sources.'

'We will be exhibiting again with a full scale electrode boiler at this year’s Hannover Messe from April 7 to 11', says Mr Løvland.
