PARAT delivery to Hurtigrutens new Cruise vessel

The delivery consists of one 1100kW electrical boiler (MEL), one 1500kW oil fired boiler (MSH) and four exhaust gas boilers (MEW). The boiler system shall produce hot water for the vessels central heating system. The electrical and oil-fired boiler serve as back-up if there is too low heat recovered by the exhaust gas boiler.

For this delivery PARAT is co-operating with PresentWater for a complete heat recovery system delivery. The goal is to recover as much energy as possible from the waste heat, thus reducing the vessels fuel consumption.

In addition to the boilers, PARAT will also deliver three 3000ltr stainless steel domestic hot water tanks to the ship. The domestic water will mainly be heated by the central heating system, but there are also electrical back-up heaters installed.

MS 'Roald Amundsen'
In July 2018 Hurtigruten’s latest addition to the fleet will be ready. MS Roald Amundsen becomes characterized by pioneering Scandinavian design, as well as becoming the first expedition ship in the world to sail all-electric hybrid technology.

MS 'Roald Amundsen' is built with new and environmentally friendly hybrid technology. The solutions chosen will reduce fuel consumption by around 20 percent. For the first time, will an all-electric sailing with passenger ships be possible. Already in the first phase, the new hybrid technology makes it possible to sail fully electric for 15 to 30 minutes.

The total savings is still the most important issue. The technology, in combination with the design of the hull and energy efficiency on board, reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from ships by 20 percent. The vessels are designed by Rolls-Royce in cooperation with renowned Norwegian yacht designer Espen Øino.
