PARAT to deliver heating solution for ice class vessel
Troms Offshore Supply AS has entered into a new building contract for a multi-purpose supply vessel with Tersan Shipyard in Turkey, where Parat Halvorsen has been chosen as the supplier of the vessels hot water and steam plant.
The vessel that Troms Offshore Supply AS has agreed to build, is of VS 4530 design, and with ice class ICE-1A and De-ice notation, this vessel is particularly designed for cold water operations in all arctic areas. The vessel will also be classified in accordance with NOFO 2009 regulations. The vessel will be delivered from the yard in 2016.
A part of and included in Parat Halvorsen scope of supply, will be a 1250kW combined electric steam & hot water boiler which operates as a hot water boiler for the vessels daily heating requirements. If an oil spill disaster should occur, the boiler will be re-mobilized to run as a steam boiler where steam is used to maintain viscosity in the recovered crude oil emulsion in the ORO storage tanks, complete accordance with the NOFO 2009 requirements.
Vessel details:
The vessel will have an overall length of 89,10 meters and a breadth of 22,0 meters with a deck space of 1040 m2 and ample underdeck capacities. The vessel is based on innovative environmentally friendly design (Clean Design) and equipment. Further, she will have accommodation for 60 persons, SPS class notation and will be prepared for helideck and offshore crane. Finally, the design also includes capacities for firefighting, oil recovery and rescue capabilities in accordance with NOFO, Oil Rec and Standby rescue NMD for up to 270 persons and as such, Troms Offshore believes that this vessel will play an important role in the rescue and emergency planning in cold water operations in Northern Norway, in the Barents Sea and other Arctic areas.
