The ship is designed by NSK Ship Design with an intention to be both efficient for business and for the environment. The vessels energy source is liquified natural gas (LNG) and it is accompanied by a large battery pack. This will lead to a reduction of diesel consumption in the transportation of live salmon and trout. The overall emissions of CO2 are reduced by 30% and 90% for NOx. The vessel will be used to transport live fish for its owner Nordlaks.
PARAT's delivery to the shipyard consists of a 500kW MEL electric boiler together with expansion tanks, pumps and accessory equipment. The heater is of standard PARAT design, with electric elements mounted directly into the water.
In addition, the order includes a control system for the central heating system. The standard control system is of PARAT design, intended to achieve an unmanned engine room. All operation and settings of the boiler, pumps, instruments and valves will be done from a touch screen placed in the control cabinet.
